The fratricidal war between the members of the Tokyo Manji Gang and their rivals from the Valhala clan has begun! Mikey, whose life is under serious threat as Kazutora has sworn to kill him, wants to do everything in his power to bring Baji back to their side. How did the six best friends, the founders of the group who swore to fight to the death for each other, end up like this? This is what Takemichi must discover and prevent, in order to save Hinata from a tragic fate and the very souls of his brothers in arms. Faced with such colossal stakes, he’ll have to do much more than roll with the punches. He’ll have to dig deep inside himself to reach a much greater leadership role in the darkest moments of the Tokyo Manji Gang's history.
The conclusion of this epic diptych is sure to be one of the cinematic events of the year! Again helmed by excellent director and co-writer Tsutomu Hanabusa, TOKYO REVENGERS 2 - PART 2 raises all the stakes in this beloved saga by injecting a surprising dose of emotion that might surprise even the most seasoned viewer into shedding a few tears. The visceral performances of every member of this all-star cast, led by the intense Takumi Kitamura as Takemichi, are in no small part why. The actors are fully invested in their roles and manage to illustrate the emotional rollercoaster experienced by their characters in the midst of the epic battle that in terms of brutal action occupies the majority of this generous and impressive feature-length film, with huge implications for all these protagonists trying to survive a war as breathtaking as it is heartbreaking. Takemichi's evolution through all this violence makes you want to stand up and cheer him on through the many ROCKY-style sequences in which the eternally under-appreciated hero refuses to give up and gives his all for those he loves. You'll be on the edge of your seat throughout this explosive finale, which is finally coming to our shores after triumphing at the Japanese box office! – Translation: Rupert Bottenberg
