This crazy Cabaret is devised and directed by Marc Lamothe, the man behind DJ XL5's popular Zappin’ Parties that have had festival-goers rolling with laughter for the past 20 years. In collaboration with the Dr Mobilo Aquafest festival, Fantasia offers a new cabaret formula combining screenings of local and international short films, comedy acts, and live performances. Guests include Catherine Éthier, Richardson Zéphir, Julien Bernatchez, Yves Jacques, Simon Predj, a heavy metal a capella choir, legendary duo Sèxe Illégal, and many more surprises. Lamothe will also be spinning some of the most cringey records in his collection. Your eyes and ears will be spitting blood...
What's more, you'll be able to discover 16 completely madcap short films, in the spirit of the DJ XL5 evenings. The world premieres include the horror comedy FORGOTTEN LAKE by Adam Brooks (USA), the incredible YOUR MONEY'S NO GOOD HERE by Canada’s Jakob Skrzypa and the intriguing THE SCREAM THAT WOULDN'T END by Éric Lavoie. As for animated films, you'll be treated to the North American premiere of POTATO FALLS by Janina Putzker, as well as GRIBOUILLAGE by Marie-Pascale Corriveau and THE FOOL by Noémi Baron. Your spleen will be dilated after seeing the uncomfortable STALLED by American Eric Rich (international premiere), Chris McInroy's crazy WE FORGOT ABOUT THE ZOMBIES, the curiosity that is HUBBARDS by American filmmaker Kevin Ralson and the strange CLAUDIO'S SONG by England’s Andreas Nilsson. If local cinema is more your thing, you'll be pleased to know that we'll also be screening TRUEVILLE: THE HOLE STORY by Fred Lavigne, the double feature LÉA et TRIDAMOS by Carnior, MES PEURS NOIRES 2 by Louis-David Jutras, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DETTE by Hugo Belhassen and SEXY JOËL ET SON WAGYU by Sam Proulx and Cédric Senécal.
A grand evening of over three hours in the unique setting of the Society for Arts and Technology. Doors open at 7 p.m., the cabaret begins at 8!
